jake austin interview

jake austin is a 16 year old kid living in miami florida, just trying to make it through high school without going crazy. inspired mostly from his everyday life and the friends he surrounds himself with, his photography speaks to youth culture with a less set-up and more raw aesthetic. 

how do you like living in miami? i don't like it

what year are you in school? a sophomore 

what inspires your work? my friends, my life, my music, alot of things 

what music has been inspiring you lately? i've been into nirvana, also i have to admit that i can get pretty down with beyonce. i guess i have a wide range of music that i like to listen to, although usually i listen mostly to indie and experimental

where do you wanna go to school? nyu

what are your summer plans? i'm going to be a counselor at a summer camp in north carolina that i've been going to since the age of 6. it's kinda like a second home, and it'll be a great time to focus on my photo work

who's your favorite photographer, and why? ryan mcginley is great. i love his ability to capture happiness

if you could meet, interview, and photograph, anyone in the world who would it be? i can't really choose one person, especially not now i'm about to go to the beach,  so my answer is that i would like to photograph up and coming musicians around the country
